For the past few months we have gotten some excellent feedback from our community, mainly that our document uploading system needed improvement. We have worked very hard to solve this problem and we are now proud to present our hight-anticipated multi-document uploader!
Why should you upload your notes?
Earn cash for sharing
Don’t let all of your old school notes go to waste. Take just a few minutes and upload your past study notes to their appropriate courses on NoteWagon. You will then be compensated year after year as others students preview and then purchase them.
Back up all of your files for free
Imagine your computer crashes and you lose all your notes before finals. Well, NoteWagon provides you a free way to store all of your notes, neatly organized by your courses. Once they are uploaded, you can access your notes from anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection.
Guide to uploading
*If you use Internet Explorer we still have the original uploader in place. There will be an add-on available soon which will enable multi-doc uploading.
1. Log in to NoteWagon, click ‘upload’ on the left tab, and ‘join’ your courses.
2. You can then select many files to be uploaded at once. To do this:
(i) Go to the appropriate folder on your computer and then “drag” your files and “drop” them into your browser, or;
(ii) Click “choose files” and then hold “Ctrl” and select all the files you want to upload
Tagging a document
If your study notes are in economics, you can tag certain words in your description by tagging “#econ101” or “#foreigncurrency” in the description of your notes. When students all over the world search for the term “econ 101” or “foreign currency” your document will be prioritized in the search results. This will highly improve the visibility of your documents and increase your sales.
Enjoy the new uploader. If there is any questions please reach out to us at: hi@notewagon.com
Sincerely,
Team NoteWagon
We wish you all an incredible reading week; while you are busy partying reading, Team NoteWagon will be busy working on exciting features to help you in the final stretch of Spring term! Before we can get to that, however, we’d like to take the time to address the issue of copyright infringement.
NoteWagon has been growing at a thrilling rate and - as ever - we love being able to help thousands of students both learn and earn. While we encourage the sharing of notes, we have been seeing uploads of copyrighted materials that are not the property of the uploaders- which is a NoteWagon DON’T. To clear up any confusion, we’d like to reiterate our policy:
NoteWagon is unequivocally against the uploading of copyrighted materials that are not the property of the uploader. This includes, but is not limited to:
-past tests, midterms, quizzes, or exams
-lecture slides, pages from copyrighted textbooks, or
-any notes that were created by someone other than the uploader
When users upload documents on NoteWagon, they are certifying that it’s their own intellectual property.
Because NoteWagon has respect for faculty, institutions, and publishers, we have been diligently working to remove and prevent the distribution of such materials. We have a team member dedicated to manually scanning the site for such documents - and we will penalize users who violate this policy. The goal of NoteWagon is to help facilitate peer-to-peer learning, and as such, we’d like to empower our community to join us in enforcing the integrity of our site. To that end, we will soon roll out the following features:
In the meantime, if there are any questions or specific documents you would like us to delete, please send the URL link associated with the document in an email to us at: hi@notewagon.comUntil next time,

Comments from meeting with Professor Larry Smith – Adjunct Associate Professor, MA, Waterloo, “Recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award”
Q: Professor Smith you mentioned that the idea of note sharing is a ridiculously logical idea. Could you please elaborate?
A: Since my own course notes do not cover everything, students often ask whether I can help them get lecture notes from other students. So, note sharing is a great and essential supplement to my own course notes.
Text books usually contain more than any course can cover, so having shared notes is very beneficial as it allows us to learn the most relevant content most quickly.
At the same time since attendance is not mandatory, some students miss the lectures. In a highly diverse class such as Economics, a student will have a hard time finding familiar people (as opposed to engineering classes in which they take very similar courses). Simply asking strangers for notes is much harder for some people. And also if the people attending are terrible note takers then it would be hard to find quality material.
From my studies in pedagogy and from my experience, I know for sure that the best quality learning is peer-to-peer learning.
I believe that you are offering a learning tool, which allows access to information related to a specifict ime, place and professor. Note sharing platforms such as yours are therefore much more flexible andcustomized to the needs of students than standard chapter summaries. The lecture notes are written bystudents themselves and they meet the demand of the ever-changing curriculum and courses and the constant need for renewals.
Your business model offers a way for people to distribute the record of what happens as well as thethought process of the individual. This is what makes peer-to-peer learning more efficient.
It is the time of the year again when the skies are grey and we experience limited bouts of sunlight. Winter may not be the most ideal time for students to concentrate at school. Below are some tips that you could use to kick start your Winter semester into a full swing and excel at school.
1. Avoid oversleeping
On those cold winter mornings, many of us will be tempted to snuggle up under our warm covers. Recent studies have shown that oversleeping may be a sign that our body is out of tune and can contribute to serious medical problems like heart disease, diabetes and a shorten life span. Try to set a daily morning agenda for yourself, like meeting a friend for breakfast or a morning yoga/exercise class.
2. Eat healthy
When school assignments and projects start to pour in, we cannot help but to dig into the junk food pile. Be conscious about your eating habits and take smaller meals throughout the day. Stock up your pantry with seasonal fruits and vegetables and munch on them when the food craving arises. The plus side – a healthier body and better bowel movements.
3. Drink 8 glasses of water daily
Do you know that we can live up to a month without food but we will die without water? Drinking adequate amounts of water will aid in the better circulation of nutrients in the body which leads to a boost in energy levels.
4. Expose yourself to natural light
Or artificial lighting like bulbs, dawn simulators and light boxes if you constantly experience dreary weather conditions. The sun is our important source for Vitamin D which is essential for strengthening our physical body and avoiding depression symptoms. If you lack natural light, be sure to ask your pharmacist for Vitamin D pills the next time you pop into the drugstore.
5. Get active
Take advantage of your school gym and fitness programs to get some adrenaline pumping in your body. By staying fit during winter ensures that you will not show those winter bulk during the upcoming beach months. More importantly, it keeps the mind focused and active.

T’is the season to be studying hard, but many students (yes, I’m looking at you) are hardly studying. Here are 7 of the dumbest things students do when cramming for exams… and the remedy for each of them.
#7 Osmosis doesn’t work

Textbooks can be confusing but notes are more useful, because they combine knowledge and interpretation in context that you understand. If you don’t have notes, get your hands on some from your peers, because their perception of the world is likely the same as yours (read: you can understand them).
#6 Highlighters aren’t magic

Highlighters are overused because they are easy to use, so their usage is easily abused. Highlighters are for people who are too lazy to write or type up study guides. Once again, if you can’t make great study guides, get them from NoteWagon.
#5 Stop nest building

Despite everything you *think* you need, all you need really is your notes and/or your textbook. If you don’t have those, all you need is your laptop with an internet connection and NoteWagon.
#4 If you’re re-reading, you’re probably not really studying

The best way to learn something is to just do it. But let’s face it: you didn’t actually learn shit during the entire term. So get caught up ASAP by reading your notes… or get notes from NoteWagon… and start applying the knowledge!
#3 Do Exam Problems

It doesn’t help that you have past exams and you have no bloody idea how to even solve them. Psst… there’re tons of practice problems *with solutions* on NoteWagon.
#2 Skip the “I’m So Screwed” competitions

We’re not saying NoteWagon can get you laid, but it can definitely get you paid. That is much better than being Schadenfreude on yourself. Get on NoteWagon and get some results!
#1 Don’t complain that the lectures didn’t prepare you for exams

Everybody can complain. Not everybody can do something about it. Go on NoteWagon and get caught up!
In dealing with Dragons someone’s always got to get burnt right? Wrong.
While the Dragons may have called “due diligence” on the NoteWagon team during negotiations, NoteWagon isn’t fazed in the slightest.
After all, shortly after the show CEO Saif Altimimi headed down to Silicon Valley, where Facebook got its start, and met up with an investor willing to make NoteWagon a much better deal.
How much better?
“We’re on the verge of closing a $1 million dollar round,” said Altimimi. By the way, that’s four times the amount the Dragons offered the company.
So don’t worry folks, NoteWagon isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
However, the team greatly appreciated the advice they were given by the Dragons, and is thankful for the opportunity CBC gave young entrepreneurs to be seen and heard on the show.
Even though the deal didn’t go through, NoteWagon has only respect for the Dragons.
The Dragons’ approval of the idea and business plan served to only reinforce the confidence with which the team is moving forward.
